  • 1908 - Quentin Crisp is born.
  • 1973 - Activist Mark Segal interrupts a live broadcast of the CBS Evening News and holds up a sign that says, "Gays Protest CBS Prejudice."
  • 1975 - George Moscone is elected Mayor of San Francisco.
  • 1975 - Former Washington Redskins linebacker, Dave Kopay, comes out.
  • 1977 - San Francisco's Castro Steam Baths is destroyed by an arson fire.
  • 1986 - Austin, Texas passes an ordinance prohibiting discrimination against people with AIDS (in employment, housing, business, medical care, and public services).
