Historical Calendar - November 1st

  • 1969 - Connecticut decriminalizes private consensual adult homosexual acts.
  • 1972 - That Certain Summer airs on ABC. The ending was changed from the son being guilt-ridden at failing to say goodbye to his father to one where he shows no regret in order to "avoid controversy."
  • 1973 - New Hampshire decriminalizes private consensual adult homosexual acts.
  • 1980 - The book Overcoming Homosexuality suggests that a strict vegetarian diet may "cure" gays and lesbians.
  • 1984 - Independent Hollywood producer Jerry Wheeler announces that production on The Front Runner will begin in late September of 1985. (It didn't happen.)
  • 1988 - A University of Minnesota study reveals that there is a one in three chance that a gay teen boy will attempt suicide.
