SUMMARY One step forward, Two steps back -- Sodomy Reform Sen. Steve Langford (D-29) has introduced sodomy legislation reform (Senate Bill 442). This bill would decriminalize sodomy between consenting adults. The American Family Association Network of Georgia, an anti-gay conservative organization, has already mailed to every legislator a letter against this bill. Nolen Cox, the President, states in his letter that he is presenting “information that is based on researched facts about the homosexual lifestyle.” He includes an “educational pamphlet” entitled “Medical Consequences of What Homosexuals Do,”which claims, among many other claims, that gay men only live on average to 42 years old and that only 2% of gay men live to old age. This bill has been assigned to the Senate Judiciary Committee chaired by Senator Mary Margaret Oliver (D-42) of Atlanta. ACTION Letters in support of this bill should be sent to her and your Senator if s/he sits on the Judiciary Committee. Their contact information is attached below.
