Subject: Talk about venom? Your column is proof of it.
You have a right to be a lezzie. You have a right to criticize the Pope. You have a right to be a Jewish Lezzie, angry at the papacy for past injustices visited upon Jews but you are guilty of what you accuse everyone else of, when you insist upon painting the Pope as a "hatemonger" because you disagree philosophically or theologically with the papacy's stand on homosexuality. The papacy, unfortunately , has painted itself into a corner on this issue and when the human genome project proves- as it will - that sexual preference is not a premeditated choice but a biological imperative coming from the genetic structure of the individual, then a new Pope will have to modify the basic Roman Catholic stance on homosexuality. That day will come. In the meantime, show some compassion for a man , trapped by the Church's own dogma. A man on his way out. He cannot understand all of this, any more than your Mom , your uncle Max or your cousin Scheckie could understand it, when you first announced that you were a Bull Dyke
