Readers Respond - Pope - Comment by Gonzalo Martinez

Dear Ms. Levinson:

I have read your article and your commentaries on the Pope's reaction to the gay march in Rome.

I believe that one has to be honest to one's own words. The venom seems to be coming from you rather than the Pope because he has disagree. For what I have read, he is just disagreeing with gays, and he has every right to disagree. Yo have put words and opinions in his mouth, that I have not find in the articles I have read about his reaction to the march or to gays in general..

On the other hand, he is upholding something that seems very straight forward: anathomically, man and women were meant to join as opposite sex. There is nothing in the anathomy of humankind that suggests that two men or two women are supposed to have sex among them. There is also no suggestion in the Bible about that. And the Pope has to go with what the Bible says, don't you think so? Or do you want the Pope to rewrite the Bible?

So, one can respect the right of other's sexual preferences, but not agree with them if there is no real and thruthful proof that that preference is correct. In this sense, I tend to agree more with the Pope's opinion.

Regards,

Gonzalo Martinez
