Gay & Lesbian Characters on the Soaps
The Soaps have long been home to edgy, ahead of its time, characters and content. One of the places where they were amongst the first is in including gay and lesbian characters and themes. Here they are, past, present and future.

Bianca Montgomery - All My Children
No comments about how being Erica Kane's daughter could turn any woman (or man) off "traditional" marriage. Bianca is out, and well on the way to being proud.

Billy Douglas - One Life to Live
This high school student moves to Llanview and becomes both a star athelete and class president. But then he lets one too many people know that he is gay! Plots turn and twist while life at Llanview moves along.

Jack McPhee - Dawson's Creek
Kerr Smith and creator Kevin Williamson bring us possibly the best portrayal of a young man's angst as he begins to realize, understand, and come to terms with his sexuality.

Jodie Dallas - Soap
Played by Billy Crystal, no list would be complete without this "I want to be a woman --- wait! Maybe I'm gay! How about if I get a lesbian pregnant and fight for custody!" character.

Lynn Carson - All My Children
"All My Children" showcases a lesbian character, child psychologist Lynn Carson played by the delightfully talented Donna Pescow.
